I did some CAD work this morning while pondering the universe and meaning of life...
:foot:
And came up with this Karambit (K-BIT) design:
Let me know what you think!
This is based on some discussions I had with a martial arts instructor a while back who was looking for some trainers for his classes.
I am open, of course, to styling suggestions, as this one is quite plain/ordinary/basic/functional.
I have to limit them (I hope you understand) to what I can actually do in my shop.
As it is right now, I don't know if I can even do this one....?!?
I was thinking of making the grinds pure zero-edge scandi grinds at the same angle as the bushcraft (12.5 degress per side). Would make sharpening very easy and leave a tip strong enough to take some serious use/abuse.
These would be made from 1/8" or 5/32" thick stock. If I decide on handles, then I'd probably go with 1/8"....the scandi grinds will keep it plenty strong...and the thinner stock will make it lighter and easier to carry.
I was thinking a horizontal sheath with the ring forward (blade would point down) on the strong side. Quick and easy to draw. Resheathing would require a little practice, but the draw would be fast.
Let me know what you think - I'll "flavor" this design a little more, and who knows.....might even make it into production...!?!
Dan
p.s. the dankura is out of production...I don't plan on making any more....this would replace that.
