I am planning on visiting Greece soon and i would like to know the laws concerning knives. I usually like to carry a blade with me wherever i go. My personal preference is a karambit. Is something like that allowed in Greece? If i get searched by the police is there any way to justify having the karambit on me?

I wouldn't carry one. The problem is the local police can interperate the law the way they want. It's not unheard of to be jailed in foreign countries until a steep fine is paid.

I'd wait until I got there and get a Greece legal knife at a local knife dealer for use while there, and then bring it back in your CHECKED luggage or mail it back to yourself. That way you'd be legal while there and have a cool souvenir from your trip. That's how I got some of the knives/swords in my collection of sharp pointy objects.

I'm Greek, have family and friends there, etc... If you are a local/with locals and are in the villages or towns, out of the city centers, then I would say maybe it's ok to have a decent sized folder or small fixed--especially if you are hiking, fishing, hunting with the proper licenses. A karambit in the city sounds like trouble to me. Now, I say this without formal knowledge of the laws; I'm just going by experiences, and stories told by friends and family.
