Karambit lockup

Hello, I just bought an Emerson Karambit, and I was concerned about the liner lock, and how it locks up. Is this normal for liner lock to engage that far?

That's where my Combat Karambit locks up after a few hundred openings. My CQC-10 locks up a little farther to the right, but still within acceptable lockup. I'm not a fan of liner locks in general and am dissapointed that the Karambit's liner lock is thinner than Emerson's other knives.

That being said, I just sent out both knives for a titanium framelock conversion.

The locks tend to settle in their own place over time. Once they fit themselves after a couple hundred lockups they seem to tend to stay there. I wouldn't be concerned about it. Remeber these aren't steel lockbars, so some things will be different.

I don't have a picture of it, but my A100 locks up just a little later than your karambit. It moved to that position after about a month of daily heavy use, and hasn't budged since. If it ever hits the edge of the blade tang then just call Emerson and they'll take care of you, but I wouldn't expect that to happen.

You can get a titanium framelock conversion? That sounds awesome.

That is reassuring. My mini A100 locks up early which is what I prefer. If it gets worse I will contact Emerson knives.

Hey Cagy, That liner lock looks AWEFUL!

if your looking to do a framelock (TI) conversion then I think your heading to right direction.

Here are a few knife makers you should be looking that does the knife modifications; Reese Weiland (hands down), The Sun ( Search Karg Knives on google), Ferrk. Out of these top three I personally prefer Mr Weiland's work.

Here is his site ---> http://www.reeseweilandknives.com/

Now I'll warn you this knife mods (framlock conversion) will become very very addictive

Good luck buddy :D

hero5211314 mentioned some well respected people for the framelock conversion.

I sent mine to Nathawut (from the green forum) for customizing.

Here's another thread with his work.

Soooooo nice !
- Just so people aren't confused, that's not my karambit. I can't wait to see what Nath does with mine. I had a few interesting requests and am extremely anxious to get them back...

I just sent 5 Emersons to Nathwaut in Thailand to do framelock conversions. Two combat karambits, one mini CQC-15, one Horseman, and one Roadhouse. He is doing some very nice work.

- It's good to see that he seems to be very busy! Did you have any other customization requests or just the framelock conversions?

Just the framelock conversions. I'm keeping everything else pretty much factory standard. I would like ti bolsters and possibly some colored G-10 work done but I cannot afford it at this time.

That is absolutely beautiful and very functional. My super Karambit locks further to the right as well.
