I just received my Emerson Karambit. It is my first karambit. The knife locks up like Fort Knox. It is extreamly sharp out of the box. I can really see how it could be a very devistating tool in the hands of a trained professional, and damn good for the rest of us.

:D Nice! I own 3 Karambits from Emerson and I love them all, If you really get into training with a karambit I would sudjest getting a trainer cause as hard as it is to tag ones self with the blade it can happen, and it will not be a pretty sight especially considering that Emerson makes these Karambits insanely sharp.

If you got any questions or want to know some information about the karambit I'd ask away since most of the people on Bladesforum know a good ammount of information.

The kerambits are indeed good, i have a couple also :) Emerson defo. make one of if not the best production piece available at the monent but some of the custom kerambit folders around are crazy sweet !
I think a fixed blade is really the way to go though but for folders you cant go far wrong with an EKI

Planning on a training blade soon. May also look into a fixed blade down the road.

I EDC an LM Wave and an SD-oriented folder. Since getting the karambit folder, I haven't carried anything else. It's killed my interest in other combat-worthy folders, to the point where I'm thinking of selling them off to pick up an extra high-end fixed blade or two.

Pocket pepper spray + karambit == a potent combination where CCW is illegal.

Be careful. After some training, they become even more addictive. I really have to try hard to come up with an excuse to carry someting other than a kara.

Addicitive ain't the word for it. Try to control that addiction after a 5 day training session with Mr. Steve Tarani. I own several different makers K-bits and am always looking for more. The trainers are a wrist saver as well:o!!!
