Been thinking about getting a Karambit, probably a low priced model for now. I have been looking at the Bokers and Mantis models. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions about these?

Well do you mean fixed or folders? Emersons are nice if you can afford it, 5.11 CUB's are also very nice and much cheaper than emersons, the boker plus CLB karambit also looks very good and has great reviews, mantis has a rather large variety of 'bits and all are resonably priced I just don't like how they look

I am looking for a folder. While I would like an Emerson I just want to try a less expensive model to see if I like carrying them. Maybe an Emerson will follow.

I'd get one of the 5.11 Karambits... I'm interested in picking one up myself, just can't justify spending money on something like that right now : P

right i see. I would choose between the boker clb or the 5.11. I have heard great things about the boker one. The design is cool(chad designs awesome knives), its framelock, good materials, great price for quality. Only thing ppl don't like about it is the clip-on finger ring thingy. The 5.11 'bit has 2 variations. I think one has 154Cm blade and the other S30V. They are also good price for the quality and very low priced for the steel used, mainly cuz they aren't US made. Also, not trying to price spot here but look where poster hammer27 suggested. I guess it all comes down to personal preferances and price. I am not sure if I would personally get the 5.11s just because I do not prefer thumb holes or spine locks. But thats just me. Look up the info and prices on all of them and try to find some reviews.

Steve tarani karambits, best you can get imho.

He makes folders too.

Does Fox Cutlery have permission to use the wave? Anyway, I also recommend 5.11, or if you can find one, Spyderco.

I really like my Boker CLB. For the money it's hard to beat. I'd like to pick up the 5.11, but to get the G-10 version you are starting to get into some bigger bucks. I think at that point I'd stretch it and go with an Emerson.

Fox was given permission at the SHOT Show in early 2009. The Emerson "wave opening feature" patent number is stamped on the Fox blade now.

I have a 511 master and an Emerson folding karambit. Both are great, but the lock on the 511 seems much more secure. The 511 journeyman would be a good choice imho.

If you would like a Mantis to review/test out I have one I wouldn't mind sending to you if shipping isn't outrageous.

I'd start with a low end one, just pick out which you like better. If you develop a taste, I'd strongly recomend that 5.11 masters model-i prefer it over my emerson.
