I am fairly new to the khukhuris. I just purchased my first one and I am very curious about the function of the two little knives/tools that came with it (karda and chakma although aI am not sure which is which).
Any info is greatly appreciated.

Well, the Khukuri FAQ on this site helps tons regarding everything you need to know about a Khukuri.

My personal experience w/ them is that you use them to burnish the edge of the khukuri..you slide them gently across the blade and reform the edge. WOrks wonders on non-khukuri knives as well.

karda -- k=knife. Small knife for use when the big one is too much.

chakma -- steel. If properly made of steel with very high RC, can be used along the edge to realign, especially if you are trying to "straighten out" the edge after chopping something hard.

The karda a small knife. It can be sharpened and used. The chakma is used to steel the main blade and most other blades. These are usually scaled to the size of the khukuri. So with a large khukuri you get a decent sized small knife.

It would be interesting to hear what the kami's have to say about their crazy customers who demand servicable chakma and karda's.
