hey howdy all.

i'm thinking that some of these might make good kardas in some of my HI kukris... especially the larger ones scabbards, where they might actually FIT without modifying anything. we'll see.

since i got that new fallkniven S1 as part of the group deal, it needed some photographing, as well as some recent newbies, and some old old ones to compare with...

o Here, we have a left to right:
o Cold Steel Master Hunter (2nd) - carbon V, solid performer (10-15 yrs)
o Junglee ??? in aus-8 - spiffy thing - bark river has a shape like this
(this one is a mystery to me, lost the paperwork, don't know much)
o Fallkniven S1 - yow! wicked geometry, spiffy alloy
o Puukko with maple handle - AK mark - Kellam - drop forged - SHARP
o Nessmuk type shape by Sarge - scary sharp - it's lurve :)
o mini puukko type shape by Sarge - scary sharp - sweet knife
o Forest Green Kellam puukko - stainless - cheap and good
o Red Marttiini Finland puukko - drop forged - very fine edge

o a few more shots and a new one:
o a mini dui chirra by sgt khadka - so tiny!
o the Sarge's again :)
o the Kellam again

o Master Hunter, Junglee ???, Fallkniven S1, Ontario Rat

o Some closeups of the Fallkniven S1, the tip shot was damn hard, and that's the best one i got... so

and there we are... :)

Nice stuff! I like that little Nessmuk style the Sarge did for you. I also really like that Junglee. The Bark River similar model is the Slither (5" blade.)

You did well on that full tang S1. I have an NL4 with the same blade but leather handle. Very useful size. And finally that little Dui Chirra is special. Only a couple of those made as far as I know.

Thanks for the sharing and the good pics.

Knife p0rn indeed! Great shots.

Just found today that I can stick 2 DMT diamond files (med. and fine) in place instead of a chamak on this one khuk that came without tools... liking that better and it is less weight.

So am working with karda options as well... considering a carbon Mora from Ragnar, a JKM (which ADDS weight :( ), a Swamp Rat Bandicoot (best accesory knife imaginable, but needs a scabbard re-do).

Thinking... but the DMT files stay; that works.

a mora pattern, especially one of the good stainless ones, would be fine... i really like that red handled one a lot, but best price i can find on it is 2x what ragnar has for other similar ones - though i'm not sure those are drop forged even if carbon steel.

an obvious choice, i COMLETELY forgot to photograph/compare is the camillus/becker "necker" knife. skeletonized, ** convex ** edge, stout, sharp, kydex sheath, do a good cord wrap, and it's good to go for $35ish; or less if you score a deal on sell/wtb like i did. rave rave :)

i have a cheap ass swiss army knive with saw ... am contemplating taking the knife apart and seeing if the saw can be handled ... it would make a nifty notching tool accessory (i'd never use it as a SAW ;>)

The options you can put on a tool-less khuk are limitless... flint & steel, tinder, Inova light, accsessory knife, accsessory saw, BlastMatch, Starflash signal mirror, first-aid kit, water purification tablets, matches, compass, fish hooks, a slingshot... and it comes with a khukuri, too!

Too bad I can't lift it. :foot:

MIke,
What is wrong with the Bandicoot sheath?? Just curious:D

What do I use?? Cant remember the thread or who posted it, but they suggested a cut down "old Hickory" steak knife or some such...I plan on getting one and trying it out after I get done with my "messy" Nessmuck hybrid

I like that Bark River Bladite:thumbup: :D

Hm, the accessory pocket is on a YCS, which has room for karda, chakma and an awl.... rather re-do it for space economy. Rats are great, but the coot belt sheath wouldn't be needed tucked inside a khuk scabbard.

The Coot sheath always was tight, despite stretching it. But it fits OK in a kydex sheath made for a SRKW SAR, so usually it rides there.

Sorry. :foot:

Man that S1 is AWESOME. I'm a newly converted Fallkniven fan for sure. Great pics. Thanks for posting.
