This is in direct response to the recent interest and discussion about utility knives based on Kitchen knife and Chef's knife concepts. This was in collaboration with forumite "Spyken." The similarities to Trace Rinaldi's Gambit, Enigma and TTKK are not accidental - it is indeed hard to design such a knife without it looking a lot like one of Trace's. I have tried hard to make it "different." Spyken tells me that the Karnali is a mighty river in Nepal.
This one has a 3-3/4inch blade, 1/8inch thick O-1 carbon steel, selective hardening, temper line that shows better in real life than in photos. Deep freeze, triple temper, anticipated edge hardness - 60HRC. Handles - black canvas Micarta, Loveless bolt fittings, blackened brass collars. The sculpted handle allows a full grip while slicing and gives finger clearance from the cutting surface. The edge shape allows chopping vegies with a rocking motion. The sheath is one of my regular military style multiposition sheaths with detachable modular belt carry attachment. Spyken wants it adaptable to a Mini Tek Lok as well.
PS.- the grind is a full height flat grind with a modified Michael price grind, ie.- a reverse distal taper "?? proximal taper ??" to maximise lateral strength towards the tip. Thanks for looking. Jason.
