For several years I've been fishing Power Pro braided line when jigging in saltwater. I generally fish 15 & 20# yellow on spinning equipment. I was looking to order from an online retailer and the search brought up Kast King braid. I looked at the specs online, watched a few videos, and read several reviews. It seems to be comparable to Power Pro and much cheaper. I'm considering it but I am a bit cautious. I tend to believe the old saying "you get what you pay for" applies to most things in life. I would like to hear from anyone who may have first hand experience with the Kast King.

Wally world sells a product called USA Braid. If I needed some braid on the cheap thats what I would go with since its basically generic Power Pro. Generally though I just use regular Power Pro since its not really all that expensive.

I'm not focusing on the "cheap" just curious about value. I have seen the USA Braid but always been skeptical of it because of the price. Funny thing because it is more expensive than the Kast King, $41/500yds vs $24/547yds of 15 lb.

Ordered a spool of 15 and a spool of 20. We're heading to the coast in a couple weeks. I'll let you know what I think of it after a few days on the pier.

I am interested to know how the Kast King works out. I picked up some 15lb Power Pro Super 8 Slick a little while ago and switched three spinning reels over. I am really liking it so far and I have put quite a few hours on one reel with it, durability is good.

I don't have a problem with Power Pro, it's on most of my saltwater rods. I usually end up buying not only for myself and my wife but others that didn't realize they needed new line till we get to the pier. I'll post my impressions of the Kast King in a few weeks.

I am afraid you will find what most others have found with the Kast King line...it is junk. I have not personally used it, but others I know have and that is why I don't own any. Bleeds like crazy, mysterious break offs, fraying etc. It is cheap line and you may like it, but it is not for me.

I have reservations about the performance but initial impressions are very good. It feels more smooth than PP and casting on dry land it does very well. I only spooled one reel so far and will fish it before trying the line on any others. I will give my honest opinion good or bad within the next week or two.

I've been using spider wire stealth for a long time. the cheaper lines are thicker and don't flow through the guides as smoothly. I supposed it wouldn't matter on a heavy conventional reel though.

The Kast King braid in 15 and 20 lb test has a smaller diameter than the Power Pro and Spider Wire. The Kast King 15 lb has a 0.0055" diameter vs 0.008" for Power Pro and 0.009" for Spider Wire. The 20 lb test shows a similar comparison with the KK being thinner than the other two. I spent a lot of time online reading reviews and watching video but found almost no evidence of the brands I've been using being superior to this line.

We fished both the 15 and 20 lb yellow Kast King on several reels at the coast last week. Unfortunately the fishing was a bit slow for this time of the year. The line performed well but was never really tested by a large fish. There were no problems with fraying or knot strength. It cast very good with the only issue being wind knots. I don't know if that was because of the line or angler. I fished Power Pro on one rod and Kast King on the other and the only real difference I noticed was the sound the Kast King made coming across the roller of my reel. It was much more pronounced than the equivalent Power Pro. One week isn't a thorough review but I can say I was favorably impressed with it for the price. It will still be on several reels for our next trip. I may get a spool of another color to try in freshwater.
