Just got katana #2 back from Broken Arrow today and I have to say without reservation that I could not find one iota of testing damage to the blade or handle.
Remember, this blade has hacked through a bunch of different materials including the spine of a cow and the blade is as perfect today as it was the day I sent it away for testing.
The handle is as sound as it was when it left Reno a couple or three weeks back.
You can see the hamon line BA generated with the acid etch and it looks pretty good and much as I'd expect it to look.
In all, this katana did better than I thought it would do for the number 2 prototype.
We will never see prototype #3. RayC bought if even before he concluded all the testing he wanted to do on it. His note with payment said, "these are some tough swords!"
I hear Gelbu will have four production katanas in the air in a week or so. All that needs to be done is tsuba (may have dragon engraved on them) and handles -- blades are ready. I think two or three of these are already gone but there should be one left and if you miss you can get a good spot on the wait list.
Stay tuned for more news on katanas.
Harry, we will get this katana in the mail to you tomorrow. I don't think you will be disappointed. If you hadn't bought this knife I think I'd have stuck it under the bed. I didn't think it was going to be as good as it turned out.
