Hello, well I'm here posting my first big set of photos of my work. This is a katana I just finished a couple of days ago, but that took about four months on the works. As in my introduction in the community subforum, I work this using garbage materials like trash steel (from a building demolution), brass (from a very old antiaircraft shell) and wood (from a trashed backyard door, cedar). I don't do replicas, I just try to make things resembling japanese style stuff but then adding my own artistic touches, so the fittings for instance may not look japanese in their purest state, but that's not what I'm following since I guess, how I can do pure japanese techniques without a pure japanese teacher? I learn all this thing by my own, I haven't even seen or touched a real katana at all! The ones in the museums are so far and so screwed, and I saw them only once.
As for the photo composition --which in a previous blades forum they took as very offensive saying this was a commercial job and I was faking the post-- the simple reason is: **I'm** a graphic designer first of all! My head is settled for such compositions! It is the most natural thing for me to arrange photos into a collage and add nice text labels over it. I put the labels mainly for friends who knows a cucumber about blades, their parts and things! So please please don't feel offended about this!
In the case you want to see photos of the building process, I have them of course --pics of the rusted beam, the trashed door, the cutted steel, etc. I'll post for instance how I did the tsuba but I don't want to bombard this forum with photos so earlier
Cheers and comments are welcome!
