Katana, Hybrid polishing

With my 440c katana I managed to shape it very well and get it sharp using a slightly modified mouse mat style with wet and dry, but it never had a hamon.

With my musashi, I am thinking about sharpening it up in a similar fashion but I also want to bring out the hamon, if even a little. But it needs to be on a serious budget.

Whats the best result I could expect to get with kitchen ingredients etc?
Is it possible to make it look good?
Any help or pics of works you have done would be much appreciated.

I want to try my hand at polishing properly when I can afford it but that might be a while.

I didn't realise it was possible to bring them out to quite that degree, cool.
I might just get to try this this week.
