A while back somebody was looking for a pic of a knife slicing a bullet in half. I fouce this video that shows a katana being stuck by a bullet. Sadly no english commentary, or slo-mo closeups, but perhaps one of the Japanese-speakers among us could translate?

Neat.

Wonder how many blades of the same/similar cross section
would -not- split the same bullet?
 
Heck, almost any blade I'd think. 50+RC steel versus solid lead slug, even with a copper jacket. As long as the blade is strong enough to cut rather than absorb the impact.

so, the result is this = the swordsman dies from two separate gunshot wounds and the GI goes home with a slightly damaged katana!
 
The result was, the swordsmith, Kuzan, took the slightly stained but no damaged katana to Japan to sell it with much higher price than bran new.
He's going to hold "Kuzan blade show" on 15th and 16th in Tokyo. I'm looking forward to his katana and his talk at the show.
Don't know about the gunshop owner. Still I believe he can add some value to the M1911.
