Katar in Hand - or on Arm.
The mailman just dropped off this beautiful piece of steel. I don't have time right now to do a review, but here are some pictures of it in hand as many of you requested.

24 7/8" overall length
63.7 ounces (just shy of four pounds)
Grip width between the bars 3 7/8"

It feels remarkably light and nimble on the arm despite its weight. Very secure, and the addition of an arm strap would make it one piece with the human body. My large hand felt secure in the grip, fingers fit easily and my wider palm overlapped securely on the side bars.

My wife just asked if I would have to kill something with the katar to give a proper review. I guess tick season is here.:p

Here are some hastily taken shots.

WOW that thing is a beast. Does it have a strong cutting edge? I imaging its more of a stabber then cutter. Would it have and slashing ability other than the tip and would it have a tendency to roll in your grip from a straight on strike. I would love to seem some pics of this thing in action.

I think it is more of a stabber than a cutter but it does sharpen up pretty well.

If westfork would allow me to make a recommendation I would say to go to someplace like Ross dress for less and get a cheap leather belt to cut down into a good strap to really hold things in place.

Okay, mental image. I get out of my patrol car with the laser sighted duty pistol in one hand and the Katar in the other. I started walking to problem child while saying, "say hello to my little friends . . ."

I might actually make a banger pee himself at that point. :)

Wicked cool and yes, a hell of a pig (no pun intended) stabber.

The weapons from that part of the world have the visual quality of being as beautiful as they are wicked-looking.

Wow that thing is a monster !
I think some 11/2 inch velcro strap would work well to hold it in place.

It will have much less of a tendancy to roll in your grip once you tie it to your forearm (hense the dual tang). Tightly wrap it from wrist to elbow, and I'd be curious as to how stable it feels in the hand.

Beautiful katar but I like the back drop better:D .....simply breathtakinhg!!!

Wow. That is a big katar. Congrats on the score! One of the rarest HI pieces.

Aye. Thanks for the better look. That's a wicked rare piece.... :p

Looks like it could slash, too, and it would be difficult to take away from someone. I think those are used by Sikhs, and were designed to punch through armor chinks in the middle ages... but I bet there's more to the story.

What was that movie... "Marathon Man?" The BG had a arm-held cutter of some kind.

Nice pictures, thank you westfork

Steve - I forget what the ribbon blade whip things are called...but all I can think is "Where's my battle rifle?"
