"Kate" finished one for my little girl

My Kids are awesome, the put up with me asking them how they like every knife I finish. The question is usually answered with a roll of the eyes. I have been promising them I will make their own custom knife to their specs (My tactic to keep them interested).

Kate is my youngest daughter (8 Yr. Old) her only request was Pink scales and Hamon... :D

Here is the finished product. I haven't put a final edge on it yet, that will come after she handles it a little bit and is ready to go out in the wild next weekend.

Specs:
Steel: 1/8" 1095
OAL: 6"
Blade: 2.75"
Scales: Pink Marbled
Pins: 1/4" Aluminum Tubing, Black Micarta, 1/8" Aluminum Tubing
Sheath: Tan Leather (Right Hand)

Beautiful knife. Very clean lines. Kate is a lucky young lady.
 
ehm, i just got the DNA tests in and turns out. YOUR MY REAL DADDY! and i like all your knives finished.....i'll take a 3.5'' blade of CPM 3V with a clip point blade and orange and black micarta handles ;)

but beautiful knife! i bet you she'll love it!
 
Nice Ryan! Kate should be thrilled with that one. Very good looking blade my friend.

Kaylee and Emily are 10 and 6, I've been wondering if it's time to start thinking about making them something......
 
Thanks everyone for the kind words... Kate is very happy with it, She even asked when can we go camping so she can use it!

Jonny, the thing I worry most about is her playing while it is in her hand. Running, Falling etc... I will have to pay extra attention around the camp now. Her life is going to have a few more rules now.:(
 
First off I really dig the knife, the scale color for a girl is of course perfect.

As for Knives around camp, you might want keep it in a safe place for her, and when she needs to use it she can ask you for it.

Rhodonite 3/16" x 1 1/4" x 4" Pink Rose color with black veins from North Coast Knives... it is very brittle and only sold in small pieces, if this was a normal sized knife it wouldn't have worked...
 
That is one gorgeous knife. My daughter would Love something like that..... actually something pink is all it takes.... Haha
 
Awesome blade Ryan!! My daughter is 7 and she wants a knife with purple scales. Do you mind if I ask where you bought that scale material? I wonder if they make purple?

Mels dad. I am not sure if they have purple, but I got the scales at North Coast Knives.
