-er, SwineKat has Flu Claws!
No. KatClaws has Swine Flu!
Yes. My otherwise lovely Bride is an achy, phlegmy, fevered mess right now. :barf: She started Monday with what she thought was a simple sinus infection. Yesterday she learned that another faculty member was out sick with a confirmed case of swine flu. This morning, she went in to work and realized she was no longer functional, and left to go to the urgent care clinic. There, she was informed that most local health care facilities are no longer testing to determine whether or not someone has swine flu specifically, since the treatment is the same for whatever flu you've got. But, the Doc said that, based on her symptoms, and "context", odds are she's got the PigPox. When she called the school to let them know she would not be returning, she was told that she was the 11th staff member to be out sick. That's about 20% of the school's total staff of +/-50.
I don't know how long they'll stay open at this rate.
She is feeling poorly, but remains in good spirits. I think her having rescued a new black kitten just in time for Halloween is at least partly responsible for that.
I stopped on my way home from work and picked her up some sickbed staples to provide some aid and comfort with her convalescence. Her fever is coming down and she is hydrating dutifully, but we have been told to expect a course of 5-7 days to recovery.
So, please wish her well, and take care of your own and your own selves!
