There isn’t that much out there in regards to this knife and I was intrigued enough to get one and try it out. I will be unfortunately sending this one back for a refund bc I ordered this one
& the dealer sent me this one
But anyways to the knife itself.
Build quality is up there very impressed with it. Transitions are good and so is the fit all around it’s great not perfect but very good. Few very slight spots and the back spring isn’t flush with the liner when the main is open it sinks a little.
Blades are perfectly placed in the handle it couldn’t possibly get any better. Zero blade rub.
It has a nice feel to it the sheepsfoot doesn’t sit too high and handle feels very nice to hold the shape is just right.
Absolutely zero blade play on all 3 blades impressed the hell out of me. The blades came with an extremely sharp edge but the grinds were not close to even on the secondaries and they aren’t that great either. I feel like these aren’t just your everyday stamped out blades they’re very nice might even be machined. Love the clip on this knife very good looking.
Now to the only drawback of this particular one (beside that I think the wood is ugly) is that pulls and snaps aren’t that great they’re not terrible either besides the Spey it doesn’t even snap open. The main is alright I’d say a 4ish pull maybe a 5 if I’m being generous with an ok snap but a snap I’ve not felt or heard before if that makes sense. The sheeps is a 4 with a pretty good snap.
For sure a high quality piece from Katz and their Japanese manufacture. Will I buy another in the correct configuration once I get a refund? Idk maybe it’s a great knife and a great size at 3.7” closed with some things going for it but a GEC #66 is calling my name to be my under 4” Stockman. So we’ll see. Wanted to get this out there for anyone that’s wondered about them but not saw anything besides one yt review.
Thank you for reading!
Regards, Dylan
