Fishing 1/2 mile offshore of Port Aransas jetties during the 2014 Blue Water Kayak Classic Kingfish Tournament..i was paddling my malibu mini-x and trolling two rapala X-rap jointed shads, i managed to land a 15 and a 22 pound king in 2 hours on the water..had a dolphin try to steal my kingfish from me for a few minutes..

do you think santiago (old man and the sea) could have landed a 10-foot marlin if he was in a kayak instead of a skiff?

absolutely...the old mans marlin was over 14 feet though, a true 1000+ pound monster..in the right situation it is possible..if i were going to try it from a kayak i would want to do it in panama where the thermonculine keeps them at the surface cutting down on fight times..also a chase boat to keep me company...would just cut the line after a certain point though..being dragged miles could turn deadly..
