Hi Everyone

I own a KB42 military surplus 2.75 lb axe. Can someone tell me when this axe head was manufactured? I can only assume WW2. Steve Tall also owns this
model axe and gave his theory on the age.

Help! I need year of manufacturer and who manufactured it.

Thanks!

Kimo Bruks (pre Gransfors Bruks) 1942. Should have three crowns on, for the Swedish army. That was the theory a couple years ago anyways, when they came out from sportsman guide.

Now that's cool! I live in a apt so I got Hawks not axes but I think I know where I can grab these cheap. Nice peice of history you got there!

Perhaps it's from Kölefors Bruk (in Sweden) instead of Kimo Bruk (in Finland).

According to this discussion on Finnish axe history, Kimo ironworks was established in the early 1700s, but by the late 1800s, "only Billnäs, Kellokoski-Mariefors and Strömfors remained as main manufacturers of axes."

The history page at the Gransfors site mentions an axe factory at Kölefors being one of the most well-known axe forges in Sweden at the end of the 19th century.

An example of an axe marked "Kölefors Bruk":
