Aloha,

If this has already been asked,I apologize in advance.

I just recently hooked up my new KABC-27D and have 3quick questions on my install.

motor is running in reverse, what wires did I get flipped around?

i am running a 2hp 3ph motor, my input is 115v, question is what jumper setting do I set for the HP, from what I have read you can only go to 1.5 hp with 115v input, do I set the jumper for my 2hp motor or for my 115v input?

the motor/vfd has a high pitch whine when running, is this normal? Or did I mess something else up?

I have the manual and it does not address these specific questions and I have combed the web with no real luck

thank you all in advance,

Gary.

You can't run a 2hp motor off of 115V with the KABC-27D. 1.5HP is as large as you can run without going with a 220V input. This might be the cause of your noise and could result in damage.

This is from the bottom of page 14 of the O&M Manual:

*Model KABC-27D is rated 11/2HP Maximum with 115VOlt AC line input and 2 HP maximum with208/230 Volt AC line input.

Set the jumper at 1.5 hp and 115v

Whine is normal

Switch any two wires from the vfd output

If the vfd has a setting for carrier frequency you can try playing with it to reduce motor noise. Read the manual for pros/cons of the different values.
Usually there is a trade off between noise and motor heating

I haven't tried it myself, but Travis W reports that it works.

The load we put on a belt grinder is actually a light load compared to other motor loads.
Interesting, Travis should know. I stand corrected, although for warranty sake, I think I'll stick to the manufacturers parameters. I'm sorry if I caused any confusion!

Thank you Peu, I had read that somewhere else also, I don't see a trim pot for the cf, anything else would just be further shielding I think..... I don't hear it with belt on. It was more obvious with just the motor alone....

Thanks again!

On most Vfd this is done via parameters not a trimpot. I don't know this particular model so I can't help...

I also run a 2hp motor off of a KABC-27D via 120v without any problems. Your hp will max out at 1.5 hp but there shouldn't be any problems. I also have a 6" drive wheel and my grinder is direct drive if that means anything to you. Good luck.
