Is it "best practice" to match motors when wiring both to one VFD, or does that matter? I planned on a 1 hp for my disc grinder, and a 2 or 3 hp for my belt grinder, or should I use matching motors?
Thanks

They dont need to match, Just be sure to use a VFD rated to the highest horsepower motor you will be using.
Its ok to connect a low horsepower motor to a VFD rated for higher h.p.
But obviously, a high h.p. motor wont work on a low h.p. VFD.

Said that, If you are using VFDs optional settings. Ramp-up/down, braking, etc. Those functions may react differently to different size motors.

As others have said, a smaller motor will run fine on a larger VFD. The only difference will be that the VFD's built in overcurrent protection for the motor will be set/programmed for the larger motor, so that if you are over loading the smaller motor, it will take longer to trip. I would consider this a minor concern in general practice though.

That had been my concern from reading through a lot of earlier posts regarding vfd's (years earlier) and their functions on multiple motors. Thank you.

Ordered the kbac 29d, my biggest motor will be 2 hp., didn't want to push the envelope on size too much. Thought about giving the cheap ones a try, then thought about, "buy once-cry once".
