That's it. No review, no first impressions, just stoked :eagerness:! I wasn't sure how useful the swedge on the Big Boss would be for me so I have a Boss headed my way. Looks as if it'll be a very handy sized blade for camping and around the farm. I'm not quite sure what to make of the handles but I'll be giving it a workout "as is" before I think about any modification.

Anyone else have one on the way or have their mitts on one yet?

I have one on the way also. Just received the notice today. I'm excited. Mike

Yes I received this regular Boss yesterday. First impression is a nice knife with a well made sheath. The design is basically the same as the custom with a few minor differences. I didn't compare side by side but I will eventually. The KB seems to be made from a bit thicker stock than the custom. The scales feel pretty good in hand. The extra set is nice but they feel "plasticky" off the knife. Wish they included the tool to swap the scales.
The finish looks like a polished stonewash, not sure if that's the correct term. The edge on mine is very toothy. I can see some variation, perhaps a burr with the naked eye. I did a quick strop last night and will have to give it more attention. Out of the box it is fairly sharp. It's a nice light, fast little fixed blade.

No I haven't messed with the sheath other than putting the knife in and dropping it in my pocket. I was thinking a kydex or leather loop and a Chicago screw could possibly make it a pseudo dangler sheath.

That's an interesting blade. Kabar is going upscale with that sheath and steel.

Thanks. Keep us updated on how you decide to carry and how the knife performs.

I keep wondering if staring at the tracking document will make it get here faster.... Thanks for the pics, I'm sure the collective mind will be hard at work on different ways to rig up the sheath.

I've been scratching my head on what to do with this since it's arrival. It's a very nice looking knife, the handle fills my hand surprisingly well for such a short amount of real estate available and the grinds look very clean. The problem is I ass-u-med something (I know, I know). I'd read plenty about the Snody customs and knew a chisel grind was a hallmark of the Boss knives. When I read the description of the KaBar though it was described as a flat grind. It is flat, but it's completely flat on one side  It is a chisel grind and that's not very useful for a lefty. Disappointing to me, but I think the rest of the wrong-handed part of the world will be more than happy with this knife.

Now I just have to decide if I like anyone enough to gift it to them (my brother-in-law is graduating this spring, but it's from law school :disgust:) or do the unthinkable and part with a knife. Or maybe I could slam my head into a wall in an attempt to damage my brain circuitry enough to become right-handed :D.

In all honesty, I'm very proud of my brother-in-law, I just have a compulsion to give him a hard time about becoming a lawyer even when he doesn't know I'm doing it.

No plans currently on the table, but that is not to say it couldn't happen down the road. We will certainly discuss here.

it would be perfect with micarta. i know having plastic handles saves the initial cost of the knife but having a micarta option would be more exciting

Any pics of the back side? Just out of curiosity? I was thinking about ordering one, passed it up, may reconsider since it is a chisel-grind. And I'm right handed. Or left. I've practiced most things enough with both hands that I can do most things passably with either hand. You might try that, grogimus.

I also wonder what it looks like under the scales. It would look cool with a fancy -- or plain -- wrap of blue paracord, which I just happen to have...

Haven't heard much about these lately. Anyone have any updates? Still on the fence about it.

Have you figured out a good way to rig the sheath?

I love the new Kabar Snody knives but I really don't get the sheath design. No clip, no belt loop, no retention strap, nothing?

I wish they had other sheath options. Its funny, I was debating getting a Big Boss, but I would end up spending big money for a high end knife like that and have it riding in a 2nd hand Ontario 499 or Mark 1 sheath.

With the regular Boss, I wonder if those holes line up with the TDI belt clip?

I think you are supposed to loop some of the extra para-cord to make belt loops, but I am not that talented ;)
