Is it really worth the extra money to get the KBDA-27D over the KBAC-27D? Yes all the extra functions on the digital control are nice, but are they needed? And with a near $70 price difference if purchased locally it makes the analog control seem that much more tempting over the bells and whistles of the digital.

I think I was looked at that site too, but they don't ship to Canada. We have a local dealer here in Winnipeg, but the prices I was quoted are $509.00 and $573.00. I did find one sight that had better pricing by about $20 on both, on the site I think you mention, that will ship to Canada but the price difference is about the same as the ones here.

I just bought a KBAC-27D from a local stocking Transbearco dealer in Mississauga this year and paid 396.47 before taxes

Roughly 450 taxes in, in person-no shipping

I don't know that the extra features are, but as long as it runs and does what I want it to, the settings being internal are fine for me,

I like cranking a knob and flipping a switch....simple controls for a simple mind...

I found one online for less after exchange and free shipping if over $300. The 509 plus tax is bit much for my blood, I am worried about service if purchased online

I have three analog's, and like to turn the dial. I don't feel the extra money for the digital is worth it. Save your money for all the other goodies.

So it looks like the analog it is then:thumbup:

I also started the official collecting of parts for the grinder today, picked up a used 1.5ph 3 phase motor today for $50. Well I didn't pick it up, I gave the money to a friend to pick up on his way home from work. Next week I will probably order all my wheels or the VFD and mid next month the "Grinder in a Box kit" and what ever I don't get next week between the VFD and wheels. All depends on what money I have, if I have enough left over for the VFD then that is first. and the wheels will be last. By the time I have all the parts I should have recovered enough from surgery to start putting it all together

One more thing about the VFD, the one I bought off E-bay didn't come with a start-stop toggle switch or a forward reverse toggle(disc grinder). You'll only need the start stop but it's additional shipping and waiting if it doesn't already come with it. Hope the build goes well. :)

That grinder in a box looks like a pretty nice machine that will do a good job for you unki gumbi. I have a Canadian made Bee and a copy I made for myself. That machine styling is great for me. It is much like an older Wilton. I'm curious if you looked at it. In any case this one you're going with will be super. Frank.

There is bee metal 2X72 on sale new here right now and it is a good price, but to be honest I don't have the money laying around to drop all in one shot for it. With the grinder in a box kit it will sort of like doing a lay away and I buy the parts as I have the money. The most expensive part will be the VFD followed by the kit itself.
Being that I will only have one grinder for now and some time to follow I think that the GIB kit with the multi set up will cover 95%+ of my needs.

Got my motor today, I think/hope I got a good one.

Doesn't look bad for $50 to my eye, but I wont know if it works till I get my VFD and run power to it. Its kind of funny but there seems to be no way to identify the leads, every wire is the same color:confused:

It's been a while since I wired mine, but I believe you just follow the diagram for the 208 voltage. The wires have numbers like T1 and T2. I can't read the whole diagram in the pic so for example tie the T1 and T7 wires together and that goes to the #1 hot wire (L1). do the same for the the other two hots and then tie the other three wires together it looks like it's T4 and two others. Good luck.

I will have to pop off the cover and look into that when I get back home

So I popped off the cover and was trying as hard as I could to read the little writing even broke out the loupe to see if that would work. Then while trying to get better light I realized that all the litle dots were spelling out T1 T2 T3 and so on to T9:o
