KC Wakizashi?

I bought a bare blade from KC, it worked out fine. You get what you pay for with them. What are you going to do with it, mount it up?

No, MA practice. They have a good rep, I had never seen this one before.

That model is *okay. It suffers from the same issues as the Hanwei model (weak handle can't really take a full force blow), but aside from that, it's a pretty decent piece of steel. Still, for the money I'd go with the Hanwei zatoichi if that's what you're looking for. Otherwise, you'd be wise to go for a more traditionally styled sword with tsuba and wrapped handle. Those tend to be more durable. Also less likely to slip out of your hands and kill someone; those handles can get very slippery if your hands get sweaty, and there's no cotton wrap to absorb that moisture.

what kind of MA? what will "practice" consist of?

While I'm more Chinese based in my training, friends from Goju and FMA have tought me a bit too. I'm doing nothing crazy, just light practice for 20-30 minutes 4-5x a week when the kids allow. Makes me think I'm still (kinda) a martial artist! Someday...

Thanks! Good info. Overall, the size of this one is what I'm finding appealing.

but what is the practice going to consist of? kata? 2 person drills?

you may want to consider an iaido type sword

the handle and saya are meant for storage only, I would not use that for practice of any kind
