I picked up this Keen Kutter axe this summer locally for $40. It is in really nice condition and had a super cool handle that I saved and used on a True Temper Tommy Axe. I hung the Keen Kutter on a 32" racing axe handle from the Hickory Handle Store (no affiliation). I used an angle grinder and flap sander pad to bring the bulk on this handle way down.

Pre-clean up and hanging:

Those are both incredible!!! Love them. I've never had a chance for a Keen Kutter Connecticut. I'm also wanting a Tommy axe now. You're a bad influence!

Cooper, As always...Great workmanship on those two. I don't have a Kleen Kutter but I do have two Tommy's. I like the longer handle you put on yours...SWEEEET!!!

Tom

Excellent work. That looks like a bigger than normal tommy axe. Maybe it's just the longer handle, Anyway it looks like a handy axe.

excellent use of that old handle. looks great on that Tommy axe. absolutely great.

you really took a lot of meat off of that racing axe handle. looks good, too.

cheers!

Thanks all. Really enjoy saving and re-using the old handles. A bit more personal history it seems than the axe heads themselves. Specially with something like the one that the Tommy axe is on now.
