hey guys was wondering if anyone knew anything about Keen Kutter knives? i was able to find some info on older knives. looks like the older stuff was good quality. not sure about their new stuff. looks like they are still being made in the US by Bear and Sons Cutlery. so are they good quality? or should i spend my money else where?

I know they used to make good knives. I don't know about now, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Actually, funny you mention it. I just bought a Bear made KK, a week ago.
Bear, can be a hit or miss. I bought two of the KK's made by them, and they were actually great for the price. If you could handle and buy one in person, you'd be alright.
As for the older KK's, they were very well made, knives. I inherited one, a while ago. Still took a nice edge.

well i just received my 2006 Keen Kutter canoe. im actually quite pleased with the fit and finish. no gaps between liners and the smooth blue bone scales are very nice and there are no gaps between the scales and bolsters. the blades are pretty dull but i can get a blade razor sharp pretty easily.

there is one problem. and its kind of a big one. the main blade does not open all the way. here are some pics compared to my Queen.

so im gonna be returning it. i really do like the knife and especially for $16.25, but theres no way i can get past the blade not opening all the way.

Now there's a canoe that's up the proverbial creek without a paddle...

(There's underblading and then there's what I would consider wholly unacceptable design and engineering. You're right to send 'er back.)
