I was out of town on business today, passed a smaller Walmart in a rural town, not one of the big Supercenters. I had a few minutes to kill so I went in to check sporting goods for clearance knives. This was one overcrowded Walmart, not at all like the clean well managed ones I see in my home city. Well, the sporting goods area is a real mess, but stacked in a corner of a glass display case with scopes and binoculars, are a small stack of assorted clearanced knives. I saw several Schrade boxes, so I asked the clerk to pull out all the knives. First up was two Schrade Tenessee River Trappers TRT96. The boxes were unmarked, unlike the other knives. The clerk scanned them, only $11.00 each! Sold. I then dug out two Uncle Henry UH897's, they were marked $11.00 and I was overjoyed, another sale, but the clerk said "Some of these are cheaper than what is marked, let me scan it." Up comes a price of $7.00!! Another sale, needless to say I got out my wallet as calmly as I could muster and paid for my jewels. These are all brand new in box.
The moral of this is, do not let a Walmart pass your car, especially in small towns. There are no knife guys in this town evidently, because the clerk said he was glad to move them, that they had been sitting there for at least two months!
