Sorry to hear it. A good hiding place or safe is a unfortunate neccessity these days.

Having been a victim of theft myself, I understand how such a crime is taken very personally even though the perpetrator likely doesn't know you or have anything against you.

I know first hand that this is very difficult, especially at this time of year when so many are giving so much, but do try to look on the bright side--if you had surprised whomever the moron is in the act of stealing your knife, there is no telling what could have happened to you. An ugly situation could have gone much much uglier in an instant.

Glad you didn't get hurt.

My apologies to everyone for the language

didnt see your original post, but some foul language would be appropriate, even if it is later deleted.

i have a good safe, and i am waiting for a quote on renters ins.

info only jw, prints in burglaries arent as useful as many would believe. even if i take prints, without a known suspect they are of little use. unlike movies there is not some central data base that we can run them against. the fbi list wouldnt be used for a burglary either.

all that assuming that was what happened here.

The investigators dusted for prints but came up with nothing. Both my roommate and I (no, I don't live with my fiance) were out of town. I don't want to go into too much detail, but the investigators believe it was someone my roommate and I know. Thanks for the responses.

Unless there were other items taken or nothing else of obvious value was left behind, it most likely was someone that knew it was there and the value of it. Being realistic unless you have been exposed to Busse products no one would have any idea of its real value other than that it is a knife. You should have renters insurance anyway in case of fire or other occourance but definatly lock up your guns and knives. It is a safty issue as well as to help prevent theft.
