Heres how it started life before carrying it a whole year...just glad the little *censored* didn't get the knife, I have 2 x dachshunds and they are literally forces of nature (you have dogs and then you have dachshunds).

Anyone else lost a knife or accessory pre-maturely other than losing it?

Blimey! They're lovely sheaths too, a nice simple well-made design, I wish someone stocked them over here. The dogs seem to have really gone for it! Ouch!

Back when I had a Golden Retriever she had a sweet tooth for bone. Thankfully I wasn't into knives back then, but I remember she found a piece of antler in the woods one day and took it home. Lasted maybe 2 days before it was all chewed up. Can't imagine what sort of damage she could have done to a knife.

Sorry about your sheath.

Ahhh... yes. Dachshunds have a mind of their own for sure. We keep ours occupied with a huge basket full of chew toys. She pulls them out one by one and leaves them all over the house. Takes just as much works as having a 3 year old boy. They sure are cute, though... and they know it :)

Dachsunds are the most vicious dogs in america. They are the breed most responsible for insurance claims. However, unlike the breeds with bad press (e.g. pit bulls, rottweilliers or german shepherds), you can kick 'em off with no problem :) Don't get me wrong, I like all dogs. All dogs like leather. They make some chew toys out of it. Mine's a mutt, but just in case, I occasionally show him a knife in sheath and use his command "leave it" to reinforce knives are for me, not him.

Dachshunds - also known as Dackel in germany are tough critters. In Germany they are used for hunting muskrats and bagders. Both animals that know how to defeat themself.

But what happened to your sheath is not great and well done. Sorry to read this. But - being honest - it made me a little smile and think about what happened to one of my working boots when a friend with a German Shepherd visited me...

We have a secret weapon against that kind of thing here Andi

Shepherd's pie! :D

I think that would have been what I wanted to do on this day... that were great boots.

However - back to topic again :p :D

I love my dachshunds, they sit when I tell them and they aint bad dogs (hell remus can shake hands now on command lol)...just this was the first time since I got them that we left them at home alone when normally they road trip with us or stay at the inlaws with their 2 dachshunds. Remus is only 1 and Holly is 3.5 months old...they have chewed up one of my old belts that broke a month ago so they probably saw it and thought it looked like a tasty morsel.

Vicious? NEIN...loyal, protective, and strong willed sums up Dachshunds.

LOL we have a massive box filled with toys for them, we pick them up, and they have NONE of that! they systematically pick them out and play with each one till they're all out and then pick one to gut all over the rug. I was mad at them when I first found it, my wife just gasped and was like "oh jeeze" cause she knows I love that sheath. But its replaceable and my dogs aint, they really imprint on their owners.

Jack if you Google that case you will easily find it, 2nd hit on the search, and they are mail-order.

Thanks a lot for that my friend. There seems to be a $40 shipping charge though, which puts the price up to just under $60!

In Germany we have a term for the Dackel (Dachshund especially): "Der Hund ist dir im Sturme treu, der Mensch nicht mal im Winde"
which means in translation "The Dog is faithful to you in storm, human are not even during wind"
It looses a little in translation, but I think it is to understand which standart the Dackel shows up in Germany/Europe.

A few more clicks, and Jack will discover that international shipping is only $39.95 for the first pound.

I'm suddenly wanting dachshunds.

Sarah, the Dackel (aka Dachshund) is a pretty brave critter. I´ve seen (in person) a Dackel kill a muskrat which has three times as large as the dog. But the Dackel killed he muskrat without any problem. I was pretty surprised about this kind of dog. Some hunting dogs don´t want to get on a muskrat...

I think you need a Dackel! Would be a nice compagnion for your cats :)

Thanks! they're great companions and one isn't enough...thats why we got holly, shes Remus' biological sister but from a different litter.

Great quote! and so true...love my little badger dogs, though I don't want them to pick a fight with the badgers in these parts LOL (they're on the farm and I know Remus would try his luck against one).

I'm sure one of us could take delivery here in the US and ship it to you, its only $50 to send my siblings in Australia a huge box filled with stuff via USPS insured. :)

Thanks Robert, I guess shipping has been worked out for the heavier items, even then it seems a bit steep! Maybe I can talk one of the companies here into importing a few, for some reason there doesn't seem to be any pocket sheaths on sale here, and I'm sure these would sell well. If anyone from the manufacturers is reading, there's a great marketing opportunity here! :D
