Once you have the sheath where you want it on the belt, how do y'all keep it there? Rubber band? Chewed gum? I can't think of a danged thing, but I'm sure someone has.

The intense pressure of my belly against my belt usually does it for me... :D

With a mil-style frog you can place one loop on either side of your belt loop.

Good question and I don't have a patented answer for it -- but --

If I carried a khukuri all day everyday I'd have a belt just for that like the old West gunfighters did for their gun or guns and ammo -- a belt to hold my pants up and one for my khukuri. My khukuri belt and the frog would have a couple of holes thru and a leather thong thru the holes to keep everything exactly where I wanted it.

Bill's idea is a good one - and one I've used after trying relentlessly to carry on the same belt as my pants or shorts...

...pulls pants back up

...pulls pants back up again

...

You get the idea.

Anyway, I actually prefer to keep the sheath loose on the 2nd belt. I have a way to carry it when I'm walking that's different from when I'm hiking, climbing, sitting, etc. It's nice to be able to spin the rascal around.

implanted in my thigh bone, and tie off the sheath on that. I think btice is having the same procedure done.

Sorry Brian, but there's something in the court order about not posting any more pictures of my body parts.

A good solution to this and other belt-related carry problems is the Safariland 1 1/2" synthetic gunbelt. I have been using one as a through-the-loops pants belt for the past several years and they work great - won't wear out and will support anything that can be carried around the waist.

The gunbelt has hook & loop fasteners on the inside surface, which can be used in conjunction with an "underbelt" passed through the loops on one's pants. The "underbelt" has fuzzy-side-out velcro and can be worn very well by itself.

With the underbelt in place, all that is necessary is to place the gunbelt over it and press in place. Items on the belt can be positioned anywhere regardless of where the pants belt loops are located. Once the belt is on, the stuff on it doesn't move.

Underbelts are cheap and if you change pants alot during the day you can keep a couple all "looped up" in your prospective pants. If the velcro connection is not secure enough for you, you can make velcro "keepers" to hold everything in place out of self-stick velcro strips available at sewing-type stores.

This sounds like alot of fooling around, but it works very slick and the belts are not expensive. Also, they don't look like gunbelts and you can wear them every day without inviting comment.

Kis, could you send me the plans for your implant? I'll see if my doctor is up to the task.:D

Man! I hate it when that happens. :D
Great ideas so far. Thanks.

Someone suggested taking the belt loop of the frog and folding it down on the sheath, then tying it off. This stops the flopping of the sheath, and secures it to the belt better. I've done it to the 15 AK, but don't know how well it would work for the longer blades...because the sheath then cannot move up when you sit or crouch down.

The newer sheaths have a little leather loop at the top of the belt loop. I use harness scraps (from farm store--around here, Farm and Fleet) as a light dedicated belt for the 12 inch AK most of the time. Just tie it off to secure it--BUT, but entwining the "belt" into the small leather loop as well as the belt loop creates enough friction that the frog/sheath doesn't travel.

Finally, I'd suppose that just sewing a single button on your jeans/pants where the small leather top loop should be positioned would hold the sheath in place. Even Red Green can sew a single button.

Good luck.

I have been taking the frogs off completely and loosening my belt a notch and just shoving the scabbard in there sort of "samurai" style. So it is riding a bit on the front of my hip opposite my using hand, the handle sticking out just to the side of my stomach. I find it very comfortable, easier to draw, and you just pull the whole thing out when you go to sit down.

..Oh, I had the rare-earth (10lb pull) magnet thigh implant fer that. Xcept the doc screwed up and put it on the upper back of my thigh, and now me bum picks up steel chairs all by itself! hee ehehe
:);)

I like Ferrous Wheel better than Ferrous Cheek...just in case you were thinking of changing it. ;)

Uncle Bill has given you the best Idea and, it works well for me. A bit at a time if have put all my khuks on their own belts but three. I have four belt blanks in the shop right now waiting for me to make buckles for them. The belts are make of heavy nylon tie down straps that were not need for any thing. Hadn't been used in years but are still serviceable enough for khuk belts. As I put the khuk on it's own belt it is secured two the belt wlith boot lace thru two holes in the belt. Onced the belt is on it is there to stay. I have no trouble sitting in armless chairs with any of the khuks but the rest of the furniture i have mercy on and take off the knife. No big deal that is what the buckles are for. Most of the time I have some kind of khuk with me all day. All the frogs have been modified to raise the handle of the khuk above the belt and ride fairly solid so they are no trouble to have on the person all day.
:) :)

A little more mundane than Kis' implant, but the hole in the frog sounds like the way to go. Thanks for all the suggestions.
Note: No wisecracks from Bruise. Hope he's ok
