good day,
on my carbon knives although I don't use them much would any good oil be allrite to use just to wipe them down with? Or would I need to use a special type? Or is any oil better than none, maybe something around the house.3-1 perhaps?
thanks in advance.

Unless you're cooking with them, 3-in-1 oil is just fine. For cooking
knives, just use a cooking oil. For any carbon bladed knife, be sure
to clean, dry and oil it after use. Don't let it lay around with water
on it - sure to rust.

Briwax is by far the best product to use on carbon steel blades. In test where the blades were waxed using different products and then a drop of water placed on the waxed blade, let set overnight and then checked, the Briwaxed blades were protected and the water didn't get to the steel. I used it for years on my blades when I went to knife shows. People handle the blades all weekend and you don't want skin oils to get on the surface of the blades.
Good stuff. Its a wood workers product.

There are a million options, and on point Yes, 3n1 oil will work fine. The key is to just do it. Occasionally is fine. Just wipe your knife off whenever it gets wet, with whatever, water, juice from a piece of fruit you just cut or whatever and wipe it down with a coat of whatever you like before putting it up for any period at all.
