Someone mentioned using vegetable oil on the blades and bolsters to keep them from rusting and or fingerprints causing damage. Is this the best, or how about a silicone cloth such as used on guns.
I don't want to damage handles, be they derlin, wood or otherwise.

I would recommend against veg oil. As pointed out "somewhere else", it can go rancid.

You could use mineral oil.

For blades and metal in storage or display, I use a product called "Rust-Free"

For handles, people mention "Rem-wax". I use Dembarts(sp?) gun stock wax.

Silicone? Don't know...
