Keeping Brass Shiny

I'm having a bit of a problem with my Buck 110, and a few other knives that have brass or nickel-silver bolsters. I know that some people like the "aged" look of the brass and such, but I'm having a difficult time keeping a luster on mine.
How in the heck do you keep those things shiny? I mean, I want to carry my knife and use it without having to worry about wiping it down after every use, since brass tarnishes easily. The first day I bought it, I used it twice, and by the end of the day, it had a green tint to it that took about 5 minutes with simichrome polish and a rag to remove. Other than cleaning it after every use, is there another way to keep it from developing spots and tarnishes?

My wife recommended coating the bolsters with clear nail polish, but I'm wondering if that will harm the finish if and when I decide to remove it from the knife.

the polish wont hurt the brass, but dont get any on the wood. yes if you clean the brass and get it good and shinny then you could coat it with clear nail polish or even clear laquer spray paint. wal-mart sells it in the spray paint isle. thats the only thing i can think of that would keep the brass shinny. other than that you would just have to polish it every day with brasso or some kind of metal polish. i hope this helps.,,,VWB.

Seal the wood and the brass in a clear lacquer and they will look good for a long time, eventually you will remove the lacquer and repolish the brass and clean the wood but thats not a big deal.
