I know brass bolstered knives will develop green verdigris if kept in the leather sheath but is it ok to store nickel silver bolstered folding hunter knives and nickel bolstered LB7s and buck 111's in the sheath?

The nickel silver bolsters can tarnish faster if stored in a sheath and the blades can rust (don't ask me how I know that :D) so I would recommend storing them another way.

May oxidation always steer clear of your knives,

Jeff

I left a Buck 110 in its leather sheath for about 20 years in a tool box in my carport storage room. The brass had a little tarnish and slight greening but not much. All it really needed was a little buffing of the bolsters to get it looking good again. The 440C stainless blade and the wood was not affected.

It has since moved into a more climate controlled area (my desk drawer) but has been in the same leather sheath for the good part of 5 years wtih no negative affects. Bolsters are still shiny.

I so the same as Scrteened Porch. Wrap in wax paper, then carefully insert into sheath so as not to puncture or tear wax paper.
