Just trying to keep up with the Jones' Finishing up a few more. and something completely Different (A Teaser).
My favorite so far. 1080 Hollow Grind, Swedge, Carbon Fiber scales. and my very first Tapered Tang!
This one is also 1080 Flat grind, dove tailed black paper micarta and black palm.
This is also 1080 Flat, dove tailed "mastadon ivory" micarta & carbon fiber, black garolite liners. The square piece in the photo is a stress test piece I made at the same time. The test piece took a serious beating and never separated, the edges chipped out on the Micarta. I was very happy with the resluts.
This one is for me to use and abuse. I posted the blade earlier "My first Hamon" 1095 - I decided to use Elk antler and Ebony, the dove tail is a bit off, and I am still not sold on the Brass pins? I had the antler burning a hole in my shop, I learned that antler needs to be like my women: Thin and straight, I ended up grinding most (All) of the bark off and nearly down to the pith! this came out very thick in the hand.
The Teaser I promised... I am going on a hog hunt in 3 weeks.
This is my practice grind, that I will finish and give to my buddy. (I have been working on a piece of 1/4" Cable Damascus that will be my sticker)
Steel: 1/4" 5160
OAL: 17"
