I recently tried to stuff vaseline cottone balls into a survival capsule along with matches and the strike surfaces but found out that matches and strike surfaces dont do well with vaseline. How do you work around this

Put your cotton balls moistened with Vaseline in a container by themselves. Problem solved.

Something I found that works very well, especially for a knife based psk, is the square plastic containers that jigsaw blades come in. They have a flip lid that you can open and close and you can cram 3 cotton balls in one. As far as the vaseline, I carry a tube of vaseline lip balm - it comes in its own container and it allows me to squirt the vaseline onto the cotton ball.

I've also heard that carmex (in a tube) and any alcohol based hand sanitizer works well.

I don;t use cotton balls anymore, instead I use cotton patches. They're like thin, 1-1/2" diameter disks. After smearing them with petroleum jelly or parrafin oil, I cut them in half, roll them up like a tight little (half) burrito, and wrap with wax paper. This helps keep them water-resistant, keeps the mess off of other stuff, and adds another item to burn (wax paper)

Take a drinking straw. Cut off a peice about an inch and quarter, inch and a half long. CAREFULLY heat one end until it starts to flare and curl back on its self, then crimp with a pair of pliers. Pack a bit of PJCB, about a quarter of one, in to the tube with a match stick, and tamp it down well. CAREFULLY heat and crimp the other end. They'll store pretty well.

If you need it, you can light the straw on fire, but you're better off cutting off the end and fluffing it.

You could always use lint from your clothes dryer or you could pack a few pads of #0000 super fine steel wool. Both go up in flames really quick!

How them cur dogs doin RB?

Visit your local head shop. They typically have a huge selection of vials, jars, baggies, pill boxes and anything else you'll need to keep your various substances separate. They generally offer both metric and standard sizes, too!
