Some of us work in places where there's no central AC reaching in
and no windows to stick a regular AC's butt out of.

Whatsonetado ?

Got me an upright AC (Federer or something like that), few years
back, in the fall (when they go on sale). The thing exhausts heat through
a 5" flex pipe, can act as AC, Fan or Dehumidifier.

Here's how to build a proper exhaust port: buy 2 of $3.something
straight 4" plumbing joint from Lowes etc. It is ~4" ID, and is 5" OD on one
end and something like 4.5" OD on other end. Excellent ! Please note:
make sure the 2 joints you pick up mate together so that narrow end of one goes
nice and tight into the wider end of the other.

At one of yer trips to HF I am sure you have picked up a $4 set of
wood core drills. The largest D they got in the set is exactly 5".

Drill through whatever - door, wall etc. Avoid plumbing, power lines and
other hidden (NPI) dangers. Stick the joint through the
hole where 5" OD is flush with the exterior of the wall/door whatever.
Some glue might be in order. On the inside, you should have the narrow
end stick out 2" or more.

Take the other joint and tape or glue it to the end of the AC's flex duct.
The joints mate perfectly, so now you can attach/detach the duct to the
exhaust port in matter of seconds. Comes in real handy if you drilled
say garage door and must disconnect the duct when you need to have
the door opened.

To cover the hole on the outside: I cut out 5" circle out of some tin,
sandpaper, alcohol to clean up, paint. I also left a smallish lip on the
circle. Drill/punch a hole in that lip and use a small nail as a hinge.

To make the whole thing look perfect, take a sample of the exterior
paint to yer Lowes and have them match it. Get a quart :) and use
whatever's left to paint the whole door, which is prolly long overdue
for a fresh paint anyway :)

You can pick up a through the wall dryer / exhaust fan vent for under $10 bucks at hardware and home centers. It's pvc plastic and it has exterior louvers that open when air is passing through.
