Keith has been sending me his folder projects from Hawaii with regularity. I really love his work: It's clean, VERY well-built, and easily recognizable. They're also a perfect canvas for engravers, notably CJ Cai, also from Hawaii.

Last week I got a surprise unannounced package:

Like his folders this one is REALLY sturdy and precise. I was impressed with the quality sheath as well. Yes, he made that, too. Keith will tell you that his mentor is the reknowned Stan Fujisaka, who got him started.

CJ Cai spent some time engraving the pins. All-in-all its a superb package, worthy of a clean photo shoot....

There was a twist: This knife was a GIFT to me from Keith and CJ, for my help and support of their work across the forums and in the publications. The generous Aloha Spirit is very real in these men.

I went the extra mile in preparation of an image that showed all the details. I hope you like it. This knife will reside with a special prominence in my collection! An open thanks to both of these men!

How cool! The knife and the gesture!! What a great addition, Coop. Love the images.

Love the blade with it's very crisp lines and shapely profile.
Looks as if it would feel real good in the hand considering the finger groves and thumb rest.

Coop, you are one fortunate man, but I know you deserve that one. Congrats to the maker and engraver for recognizing what you do for them and showing their appreciation. Respect is hard to come by these days, but those two guys certainly have mine. Great Score for a Good Man.

That's a great looking knife. I really like the thumb ramp for the extra control and leverage.

My compliments to the makers for their appreciation of your efforts.

Congrats, Coop. A couple of classy gents. I really like the engraving, an all around great package and image.

I was duly impressed with the knives and engraving when you posted the folder images earlier. But this gesture on the craftsmen's part gives that earlier perspective new meaning - many of us collect the knivemakers/engravers, not the knives themselves. Three very admirable craftsmen here!
