For the last month I have been shooting Twisted Industries 22 conversion unit for the PF9. It's performing really well. http://www.twistedin...s.net/products/

Ammo. They recommend CCI mini mags. I started off with 400 or so of those and the unit worked flawlessly with them.
Tried Federal 550 pack and had some double feeds, extractions issues. Stopped after 100 rounds of that ammo.
Tried CCI blazer and shot 400 no problem (and again no duds- at bulk prices )
Shot an old brick of Remington thunderbolts- besides some duds it cycled very well.
I've been shooting mostly cci blazer/thunderbolts after that- using up old ammo.

The sights are the exact same sights on the PF9. Adjustable left to right.

I like that I can shoot 500 rounds in a couple days and not hurt my hands. I once shot 200 rounds though my 9mm PF9 slide in two days and had slight bruising/sore hands the next days. Also, it's very easy to develop a flinch with the regular PF9 with 9mm ammo for extended sessions. The kit is paying for itself very quickly. It allow me to get use to the long revolver like pull of the PF9. And with the higher round count my trigger pull is becoming smoother.

At the end of a plinking session a couple days ago, I did manage to hit 4 empty 12 gauge hulls offhand at 25 meters in a row, and I'm not a good handgun shot. I think it's accurate enough for training myself, my hits with the 9mm and the 22's are similar size groups at the same range. But I can practice more at one time with less probability of developing a flinch.

It's also really light weight- 12.2 oz loaded- almost a kit gun of sorts.

This kind of moves the PF9 up a notch in my book- for a single stack light weight 9mm that is easy to carry, but with the 22 conversion unit allows practice on the cheap while getting use to the same trigger pull. Haven't really seen any other 22 conversion units for pistols in that class- and TI is making them for the other kel tec models. Twisted Industries hit a home run IMHO.

The PF9 is my next firearms purchase. I believe there's a show in a little over a week.
Thanks for the heads up on this conversion kit. I'd not heard about them. I see TI is working on one for the P3AT.

PF-9 is likely next for me too, the availability of this conversion kit just edged it over a CZ-82 as a light weight travel auto pistol that I won't fret about during canoe trips, airline travel etc. They are available for about $270 NIB around here. Plus, the PF-9 has the added advantage of not requiring me to stock another caliber (vice 9X18 mak) in quantity as I already have 9mms & .22LRs.

Sure, I expect the recoil to be decently snappy out of a lightweight 9mm, but easily overcomed w/ practice. with .22LR it will be no issue.

What it the street price of the kit? their website says $199 if you order direct. Though the total price of the kit & kel-tec combined is less than most of my pistols so I guess $199 is fair. I like the idea of a 2 mags loaded with 9mm JHP for self defence on the trail, and switching to the .22 slide & magazine for procuring a rabbit or a squirill for the pot if required. 100 rds of CCI mini-mags .22 weighs a lot less and takes up much less space in the pack than the equivilent 9mm rounds - and is a round much better suited for small game hunting IMHO. A great woods combo, if they nare both as reliable as indicated.

the 9mm is very snappy.

Yeah, it's been reliable with the ammo that I indicated. I say it as it is.

Some carry two pistols- one glock in centerfire and another with a conversion. Light weight and the same parts incase one goes down.

I have a conversion for my glock too and like them.

It fits well in my RIBZ.

I have a PF9, and I definitely am going to get one of these Conversions to use! Thanks for the info!

Scottman,

If you have the Glock 23 you can get a 22 conversion kit from Ceiner out of Ga. and then get a 357 Barrel from Barstow in Ca. and you have 3 Guns in one ~~ I have the 23 and shoot all day long with the 22LR and throw the 40 cal or 357 in there for protection. Great combo.!*

hey no prob, glad I could help!
Brother you pointed out the glock 23, there is an article on that in Survival Quarterly! 22, 9, 40, and 357 sig. I'm kind of weird and had to buy a glock 17 for my first one, just like I bought a 30-06 instead of a .308 on my 18th birthday. Either way, it's all fun and good.

Thanks for the review Scottman...I'm tempted to get a PF9 just so I can get the conversion kit:D I've been wanting a truck gun with a little more versatility and not be too expensive...this may be it...

i hadn't heard of this conversion kit. it looks great and definitely gives the pf-9 some versatility. i sold mine as it just wasn't fun to shoot but with a nice 22 conversion that should change things around a lot. i may have to get another lol

Have put over 2000 through it now without cleaning. With CCI ammo, flawless. I think it's proving to be quite reliable.
