For the last month I have been shooting Twisted Industries 22 conversion unit for the PF9. It's performing really well. http://www.twistedin...s.net/products/
Ammo. They recommend CCI mini mags. I started off with 400 or so of those and the unit worked flawlessly with them.
Tried Federal 550 pack and had some double feeds, extractions issues. Stopped after 100 rounds of that ammo.
Tried CCI blazer and shot 400 no problem (and again no duds- at bulk prices )
Shot an old brick of Remington thunderbolts- besides some duds it cycled very well.
I've been shooting mostly cci blazer/thunderbolts after that- using up old ammo.
The sights are the exact same sights on the PF9. Adjustable left to right.
I like that I can shoot 500 rounds in a couple days and not hurt my hands. I once shot 200 rounds though my 9mm PF9 slide in two days and had slight bruising/sore hands the next days. Also, it's very easy to develop a flinch with the regular PF9 with 9mm ammo for extended sessions. The kit is paying for itself very quickly. It allow me to get use to the long revolver like pull of the PF9. And with the higher round count my trigger pull is becoming smoother.
At the end of a plinking session a couple days ago, I did manage to hit 4 empty 12 gauge hulls offhand at 25 meters in a row, and I'm not a good handgun shot. I think it's accurate enough for training myself, my hits with the 9mm and the 22's are similar size groups at the same range. But I can practice more at one time with less probability of developing a flinch.
It's also really light weight- 12.2 oz loaded- almost a kit gun of sorts.
This kind of moves the PF9 up a notch in my book- for a single stack light weight 9mm that is easy to carry, but with the 22 conversion unit allows practice on the cheap while getting use to the same trigger pull. Haven't really seen any other 22 conversion units for pistols in that class- and TI is making them for the other kel tec models. Twisted Industries hit a home run IMHO.
