Hi. I recently purchased a Kellam Fang knife (carbon steel blade, wood handle, leather sheath) and I would like to know what maintenance the three components require, in order to preserve the steel, wood and leather?
To preserve the carbon steel and keep it from rusting you should always wipe down your blade after use and make sure it is dry when you out it away. The best product I've found for this is Sentry Solutions TufCloth and TufGlide it works well and doesn't leave a sticky oily residue like many other products. I've always had good results using boiled linseed oil for wood and neatsfoot oil for leather but you might want to contact Kellam and ask them what the reccomend. Enjoy your new knife and welcome to BladeForums!
