I have been looking at the Kellam brochure and I wonder if anyone has any experience with the tommie knives. They seem kind of pricey to me and am wondering if you can tell me if they are worth the money they are asking for them.

Thanks for any responces in advance.

It's hard to assign value, it being such a subjective thing.

That said, I have a Rugged Tommi (which I was fortunate enough to purchase at a substantially reduced price at the time).

It is an excellent knife with a very sharp hand forged blade. Everything from the blade to the handle and sheath is made by one smith.

Would I buy the same knife today at retail? Much as I like it, probably not, but again it all depends on what you are looking for in a puukko or Nordic knife.

I don't have Kellam Tommi. I actually don't have Any Tommi (except my own name ;)). But my next puukko will be a Tommi Puukko. This one is wery traditional Tommi, made by award winning smith and is clearly cheaper. It is not differentially quenched/tempered (my knowledge) as Kellam Tommis but is still hand forged of silver steel like Kellam Tommis. I've handled these these puukkos and knives and must say that these are of very best quality.

Blues: thanks for your input.

Tommie: thanks for the thread...he sure makes some nice looking knives.

If you are intersted in Norwegian knives you can also check out Ragweed Forge They have a large selection of knives that appear to be very reasonable. Also, check out the Wilderness Survival Forums here and on "the other Site" for some great reviews on these types of blades.

Thanks to the input everyone...I ordered the T21 tommi today and should get it sometime next week.
