Hello All,

I just picked up an old Kelly True Temper axe. It has the standard Charlestown, WV and True Temper stamps on one side, but on the other it is marked "BELL SYSTEMS". The stamp is bold and clean, obviously done at the Kelly shop.

I am just wondering if anyone has any ideas about this piece. I was thinking it might be a bulk order put in by the old Bell telephone company. Any other ideas?

Thanks,

John

Bell Telephone Company hatchet.

I have seen some that the head looks mostly like a broad or hewing style hatchet, but near one of the corners of the edge in the blade of the hatchet was a square hole use to fit over square headed bolts and nuts.

But you may different style Bell may have ordered.

Pat

Thank you. Yes, this is a full-size axe head. I would guess between 3 and 3.5 lbs. with a full-size eye, etc.
