Kelly Carlson is one of my favorite knife makers, and this knife, photographed by Coop, is my favorite individual knife.

The blade is CPM 3V and a bit over 5" in length.

Very elegant.
Really like the blade profile and the engraving design is unusual yet appealing.

That's beautiful. Looks to be a linerlock, am I right? I'm partial to those over framelocks, especially the ones designed without the finger cutout (to make disengaging the lock easier). It makes the design flow that much more IMO. Is the swedge sharpened? Finally, the different colors on the engraving...are they plated? If so, I'd be reluctant to carry such a beautiful knife for fear of the plating flaking off.

I forgot you were on these forums.

I must make a shout out to l4d2. Props for an awesome game. Truly a sequel despite what some people think. I can't wait to play The Passing.

Tim George did the engraving. The handle is 3V as well, and he was "intrigued" by how it behaved when he was engraving it.

It's a linerlock.

Interesting design. Can you use the nub that sticks out as a flipper, sort of like the Burger knives?

Hi Gabe - I wish I could lay claim to these clear photos, but they are someone else's work. Kelly? He's up to the job.

My almost-7-yr-old son is viewing this with me. He says about the fossils:

"That's an othocerus in the top photo. It's from the Cambrian period same time as the Amonites and Trilobites. Also the Talisaur."

We've been schooled. ;)

You KNOW I support anything by Kelly. And, Tim George is on the top of the game.

Great to see you and Kelly's work in here. It's been a while.

Hi Gabe, thanks for posting this. I've admired Kelly's knives for a while. I've always been drawn to his Wharncliife inspired blades but I really like this one.

SWEET knife and excellent (and very different) engraving by Mr. George.

Kelly Carlson is a super guy and makes NICE knives. I used to see him a lot at the NCCA shows here in CT and MA, but not so much lately. His knives have always been superb in fit and finish.

Whups.

But you have photographed this knife at some point, or has my brain completely gone to Swiss cheese?
Gabe, you must be playing too many computer games. Your brain IS mush..... :p ;)

Here's one I did for YOU and Kelly back in 2005. It's a classic:

And here's one I did with Tim George's engraving:

And a classic old collage I used to do:

Hence the confusion?

Thanks for giving me an opportunity to show his work.

Great looking knife Gabe. I love that scroll engraving.

As to the photo credit - just a guess on my part but maybe Rich Slaughter? I've seen quite a few shots of Kelly's knives done by him.

Really nice to see this knife shown here Gabe. Those are indeed my photos Jujigatime, but I'm stoked someone mistook them for Coop's..
