So, share your experience in the comments, single bit against double bit kelly perfects, pros and cons. I find the double bit to be superior in cutting, the thin profile of the blade allows a deeper cut as compared to the fairly "steep" (steep compared to the competitor) profile of the single bit. Considering this, I'd imagine the single bit would be better with splitting, I haven't had the chance to do any splitting with either but it seems the single has the advantage. weights for my axes are both 3.5 pounds. Feel free to add your experiences down below

You can make the single bit as thin as you like. And many Perfect single bits have hardened polls.

The bits on axes are typically profiled by owners, especially with these vintage axes. As Square_Peg said, you can profile a bit as thin as you need, or at least WANT it to be.

I love both, but a double bit is just a lot smoother to me. Add an air dried, horizontally grained handle and it don't get any better! IMHO, of coarse.
