are Kelly true temper flint edge good axes and hatchets? I'm looking at picking one up. Thanks

For a long time Kelly had three major lines: Woodslasher (economy), Flint Edge (mid-range), and Kelly Perfect (top shelf). They also had tons of other lines (ie Black Raven, World's Finest, so on and so forth). They are all really good. Personally, I think the Flint Edge line is fantastic. I have a jersey Kelly Flint Edge that has what I would consider to be the best geometry of any Jersey I've ever laid eyes on.

I lost the auction, but I'm gona keep my eyes open. What are hatchets you'd keep your eyes open for and what's a "good price"? thanks

Flint Edge are really good. I have a Flint Edge jersey. I usually have a set limit on how much I'd spend on ebay. Occasionally I'll go over if its a sweet axe like the one below.

That said, you can spend $20 or under and get a really good axe head. I picked these up (Flint Edge & R.King Tool Steel) for around $20.

I really like Kelly Flint Edge axes. I collect Kellys. The Flint Edge is a quality axe. I don't think you can go wrong with one.

I just gave a Flint edge DB an electrolysis bath today. Turned out great. They are a fine axe and make excellent users.
