Found this model of Kelly hatchet at a local antique store and she wanted $35. this is not the actual one i found this pic on the internet. it is in this good of shape however. I did some research on the internet an ebay and It seems $35 is a little steep? What do you guys think?

That stamp would mean it was made prior to the 1930 name change (when "Co." was changed to "Works"), according to yesteryeartools.com

They don't make them that nice anymore, in my opinion, not for $35 that is.

Looks like market price. You'd hope to get it cheaper in a yard sale but that's about what I'd expect a dealer to ask. See if you can get it for $25.

In my experience half hatchets are not something that most people are willing to pay much for. I have stopped buying them unless they are $3 or less, as I can't sell even pretty good ones for much more than $10-12.

Having said that, the one pictured is rare and in condition that is hard to beat. It is obviously a stand out and should be in a different price range. Even so, $25 would be my personal upper limit for a half hatchet. That doesn't mean that it has to be yours though. If you are collecting and love it, try to get the price down but don't let it get away. It does look spectacular.

It certainly would be a quality tool and pretty addition to anyone's collection/tool crib/camping gear, especially if they had already earmarked cash for the purchase of a brand new equivalent from a hardware or outdoors store. An ordinary 'made in Mexico' assembled in Canada generic chainsaw axe is $45 (plus $5 tax) here already and you can be absolutely certain which way I'd go if I needed/wanted something like this. Golden oldies inevitably capture my attention and my wallet!
