I just got a beat-to-**** true temper kelly works, it looks intact and barbaric but i can't find any info on it, it just pulls up with the kelly perfect.

Any info?

well its soaking in vinegar ATM so its gonna need to wait
I'd recommend not using vinegar anymore as it removes the patina, a wire wheel is the best way to go 👍 some people prefer the set it and forget it approach of the vinegar soak, but the patina which it destroys just can't be replicated ( not exactly anyway )
If it hasn't been soaking for very long I'd take it out and go with a wire wheel instead.

i know about that, im just trying something different on this, i've done quite a few axes with just a wire wheel, now i only have a wire wheel on my drill so i figure i'll let the vinegar instead of fighting a drill for half an hour. And if i want the patina back, i can just boil it in vinegar, i think. i saw it, but steels are different

Good luck dealing with that vomit inducing smell 😷😷😷 ( the smell of vinegar literally makes me sick )
I know what you mean about using a drill, I too have yet to get a new one for my angle grinder but it was a heck of a lot easier before I lost mine.
