HI...just wondering if anyone ever used one of these and what their experience was like. Thanks

I've had the Quartz 2. The set up is a real pain but the tent itself is very sturdy. You have to thread the two poles through two full length sleeves and that was more of a chore than I wanted to deal with. It's heavy. The rain fly is a lot of that, since it's pretty thick material. The door and windows have mesh AND the regular tent material that zips over them if you need it all buttoned up.

I did like it. I just didn't need anything that extreme and hard to set up. The tent I have now just clips to the poles for a very easy set up.

Agnos, thank you for the response. I got it for $85 and thought it was a good price to use for winter camping. Will get something lighter for the other seasons. Good deal?

$85 is a good deal. That's about what I sold mine for on CL. I didn't use it in snow, but that's what it was designed for. Was a good idea at the time but overkill now. I lived in WA, now in AZ.

I have the Big Agnes Lynx Pass 1 because it's very easy to set up, much lighter, mostly mesh top so there is a lot of air flow and enough tent material at the bottom to keep the drafts out and some cover for privacy if the fly isn't used or rolled open.

Agnos, I like that Big Agnes...might have to consider it for the lighter seasons. How well did the base tent of the Kelty quartz 2 ventilate for lighter seasons? Do you have any pictures of the Kelty Quartz 2 you can post? I have had a hard time finding pics of it without the fly...still waiting on mine. Thanks

The base tent did fine with the windows/doors unzipped to the mesh, and the fly off.

All the windows and doors have mesh like any other tent. Plus, inside they have zip covers over the mesh of the regular tent material. If I remember right, doors on each side, and windows at each end, plus a moon window on top. All the zip off window pieces have tie downs to keep them rolled up neat when unzipped.

I'll look for some pics at home. I don't have any field shots, just a couple in the backyard to show what was for sale.

If you have any other questions, let me know!

Sweet! My wife has you hooked up!
