One of the many offerings I took pics of this week. Ken is a heck of a nice guy, and this is a he** of a nice knife!

I did my little dance with the pics, just for fun. I tried a few poses to see what worked best. OK, Art Critics--give me your favorites and why... :D

There's NO right or wrong--it's all subjective, but that's what makes it fun!

(BTW--Ken was highly praised for this knife by the BIG guys. He's going to make Mastersmith soon!)

Great pic Coop. Ken sure is one heck of a nice person and his knives always amaze me. Glad you two got hooked up.
As far as my favorites. I like #1 (the insets in 2 take more away from the knife in my eye. I also like #3 second best.

I too like the first and third picture the best. I really like to see the makers mark. I think the best would actually be the third picture with the addition of the insets. The reason is that I get a better overall look at the knife in the third picture. It is much easier to make out the fine detail in the handle.

By the way, that is a superb Mediterranean dirk. Ken is one heck of a maker who is going to be a big star in the future.

Coop - great knife! And the pics, I'd say, look like they were taken by a pro. I can't pick a favorite though, as on the one hand I find the insets somewhat distracting, while on the other hand I feel that those embelishments need to be highlighted up close.

OK, now that I've looked at them some more I think I like the top picture. All the essential elements are there - maker's mark, fine embellishments and accoutrements, and, of course, the undisturbed, uncompromised subject, the knife itself. I think the juxtaposition works well too - the space is filled nicely and the eye is drawn gradually across the page. The only criticism I have is with the background. I think that a different color, perhaps a soft, pastel blue, would better accent the rich creaminess of the handle (what is that anyway - oosic? walrus ivory?)

Oh yeah - now how about some specs?

Nice Images!!! I like the first one the best. It seems to capture the overall knife without getting too complicated or contrived. It makes me wonder what the image would look like in black and white.

Nice pictures as always Coop.., and boy that's some Dirk huh? Absolutely fantastic attention to detail.

I don't know what I'd pick as the best picture.., but the inserts are a nice touch...
