A while back I contacted Ken Erickson about making a knife for me. And now that the post office is no longer keeping me in suspense, here's the story: Ken made this knife to replicate an Eye Brand trapper that my dad bought in the early 80s and carried for many years. He used it for everything you can think of, and since he was a lifelong rancher, you can probably think of a lot. *grin* The knife went missing not long after he passed away, some years ago, but I found it early last year. I love the pattern generally and that knife specifically, but it has too much sentimental value to carry every day. So I sent Ken a detailed description and some not-very-good pictures, and he turned around and completely blew me away. Thanks, Ken.

I went ahead and took some pictures with the two side by side, so y'all could see what a great job Ken did with a fairly unusual commission. The last picture is the composite that Ken made up to send me when he finished.

That's a very special knife you have there! Well, both of them...The question remains: will you EDC your new knife :D

It's been rattling around in my pocket every day since I got it. In fact, today it was baptized in sausage and brisket grease at my favorite barbecue joint. So yep, I'm using it. *grin*

That's truly a fine-looking knife!
Congratulations to it!
You just can't go wrong with Kens' work.

Looks great, James. The story behind your having it made makes it a bit more special. I'll bet your Dad would have liked it too.
